Come & Enjoy Atacama

This little town has a rich history of  preispanic culture and carries the name of its Saint “San Pedro” and the word in the Kunza language “Accatchca” meaning head of the country. Since its origin the “Atacamenian Culture” or Lickanlantay have received many foreign influences, the town was conquered by the Incas circa xxxx and then by the Spaniards in 1537. Nowadays the historic old town maintains its colonial architecture, with its old houses built in adobe, Algarrobo wood beams, chañar and sealings built with straw, cachiyuyo, pitch and clay. Its streets built in clay and teated with vichufita (salt, clay and water from the salt lake) keep the old town’s physiognomy.
